Emunas Chachamim is a work that defends the Zohar and Kabbalah against philosophy, written by R' Shlomo Aviad Sar Shalom Basila of 18th century Italy, the teacher of R' Yitzchak Lampronti, the author of the Pachad Yitzchak. This work was highly controversial in its time due to its attacks on many Rishonim and was refuted by R' Yaakov Emden in his book Mishpachat Seforim.

Sefer Maros HaTzoveos, known in English as The Book of Mirrors, is a very rare kabbalistic sefer written by one of our great Rishonim, R' David Ben Yehuda HaChasid, the grandson of the Ramban. It is the earliest source that translates large parts of the Zohar into Hebrew. This edition is printed with an extensive introduction in English by the editor, Daniel Chanan Matt. This is the first and only edition of this sefer and is being distributed by the special permission from the editor and the Judaic Studies Department of Brown University.

Sefer Toros Hanefesh is a philosophical work by an unknown author from the time of the Rishonim. For a while it has been erroneously attributed to R' Bachya Ibn Paquda, the author of Chovos HaLevavos. Due to this error its author is known as Pseudo-Bachya. We are providing two editions of this sefer. The first is the Hebrew translation of the original Arabic text by Yitzhak Broyde with an introduction in French by the translator. The second is the original Arabic (Maanis Al-Nafs) edited by Goldziher with the editor's introduction in German.

Meshabeyach is a commentary on Talmud Yerushalmi written by R' Moshe Shimon Sivitz, who was a Rav in Pittsburgh, PA in the 1930s. It's an addition to his larger, two volume commentary on Yerushalmi called Mashbiach. (Mashbiach, Vol 1 and Mashbiach, Vol 2).

Emunos VeDeos is a famous phylosophical work by R' Saadiah Gaon, one of the great Babylonian Gaonim. The sefer was originally written in Arabic and was translated into Hebrew by one of our great Rishonim, R' Yehudah Ibn Tibbon. This is a later edition of the book and has been affected by Christian censorship, which makes it worth it to compare to the original edition from 1562 (#2).

R' Yochanan Allemanno was a kabbalist and a philosopher, who lived in Italy in the late 15th century. Shaar HaCheishek is a philosophical introduction to his commentary on Shir HaShirim, entitled Cheishek Shlomoh. It discusses artistic and intellectual attainments of the human race all of which, per the author's argument, were combined in King Solomon. Allemanno is famous for being the teacher (mainly in Kabbalah) of the famous Italian humanist Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, and contributed to the spread of Kabbalah among Christian humanists.

This sefer is a supercommentary by R' Yosef Ibn Kaspi, one of our great Rishonim, on the secrets of R' Avraham Ibn Ezra in his commentary to the Torah. Ibn Kaspi wrote a few different supercommentaries on Ibn Ezra and it's not perfectly clear which one it is, since he doesn't have a specific title for this one as most of his other seforim. It seems that this is the commentary that Ibn Kaspi wrote when he was 17 years old and is mentioned by Shlomo Zalman Verbluner in Meleches Shlomo (#10) on page 16. It's been published with ten other Ibn Kaspi's works under the title Asarah Kelei Kesef. This is the first and only edition of this sefer.

Sharashos Kesef is Ibn Kaspi's Dictionary of Hebrew Roots, similar to Radak's and Ibn Yanach's Sefer HaShorashim. The title of this sefer is sometimes written as Sharsharos Kesef (שרשרות כסף), which means Chains of Silver (as opposed to Roots of Silver), and it's referenced so in Ibn Kaspi's list of his own works, Kevutzas Kesef (#10). This publicaton in Jewish Quarterly Review, Old Series Vol. 19, is not the complete sefer, but rather an abbridged edition, which the editor, Yitzchak Last, decided to print due to his inability to publish the whole thing, as he writes in the English introduction. This is the first and only edition of this sefer.

Binat Mikra is a commentary on Chumash by R' Menashe from Iliyah, Russia. R' Menashe was a great talmid chacham and a philosopher and was an indirect student of the Vilna Gaon and at the same time of R' Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Lubavitcher Rebbe, and even tried to reconsile the two. He was widely persecuted by various Rabbis for his criticisms of some of Rashi's commentaries and innovative interpretations and was even forced to rewrite one of his seforim when the printer who was supposed to publish it, burned it instead. This is the first edition of this sefer.

This sefer is an introduction to the Babylonian-Hebraic system of punctuation which is based on the results of R' Simcha PInsker's examination of the manuscripts in the Odessa library. R' Simcha Pinsker was a scholar from Poland in the first half of the 19th century. He is most famous for his sefer, Likutei Kadmoniyos about the development of Karaism. Many of the manuscripts examined by Pinsker for this sefer and also for Mevo El HaNikud HaAshuri O HaBavli were brough to him by a famous karaite in Russia, Abraham Firkovich, and are potential forgeries. In this edition Pinsker included his edition of Ibn Ezra's Sefer Yesod Mispar which appeared on pages 132-173 and has been published separately on our site (#165) for ease of use. This is the first edition of this sefer.
